Qpurpose is a founding partner of Q-PLANET, a €50 million European pilot line dedicated to accelerating the industrialization of neutral atom quantum technologies. As one of the 28 founding partners from across Europe, Qpurpose will contribute with our expertise in quantum optimisation, helping transform advances in quantum hardware into practical solutions for industry.
Co-funded by the European Union, the Chips Joint Undertaking, and national authorities across 11 European countries, Q-PLANET is part of Europe's ambition to strengthen technological sovereignty and build a resilient quantum supply chain. The project addresses one of the biggest challenges facing quantum technologies today: bridging the gap between world-leading research and scalable industrial deployment.
While many partners are developing the physical building blocks of future neutral atom quantum systems, Qpurpose's role is to ensure these technologies can solve real-world industrial challenges. We will bring our deep insights and expertise in quantum optimisation algorithms and our ability to translate frontier quantum research into practical applications into the project.
Working alongside the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Qpurpose will contribute quantum optimisation algorithms and design support for key enabling technologies, including laser systems across four critical wavelengths (461 nm, 795 nm and 1013 nm), atom chips for quantum sensing and computing, and microfabricated vapour cells for atomic clocks and field sensors.
During the first three-year phase, Q-PLANET will mature these critical technologies from Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 4 to TRL 6 through iterative design, fabrication and testing, laying the foundation for larger-scale manufacturing of neutral atom quantum components.

Through the project, Qpurpose will explore how future neutral atom quantum computers can address complex optimisation challenges across multiple industries. The collaboration will strengthen the company's technology development, expand its international partnerships, and reinforce Denmark's position within Europe's rapidly growing quantum ecosystem.

Q-PLANET (Quantum Pilot line for Production of Advanced Chips for Neutral Atom European Technologies) is one of six European Quantum Chip Pilot Lines established under the Chips Joint Undertaking. Coordinated by Pasqal, the €50 million initiative brings together 28 research institutions, universities and industrial partners from 11 European countries to establish Europe's industrial foundation for neutral atom quantum technologies.
This project will develop scalable manufacturing processes, standardised design frameworks and industrial-grade quantum chip components for quantum computing, sensing and communications, supporting Europe's ambition to industrialse quantum technologies by 2030.
