Quantum Chemist and Software Engineer (C++)
Qpurpose is looking for one Quantum Chemist and Software Engineer to join our team. Whether you have recently completed your Ph.D. or already have industry or academic experience, this position offers a unique opportunity to apply quantum chemistry and computational science to real-world industrial challenges.
You will contribute to impactful industry applications using classical algorithms and modern software engineering practices. What you’ll do:
- Develop and implement quantum chemistry methods and computational models for scientific and industrial applications.
- Translate theoretical concepts and mathematical formulations into correct, efficient, and maintainable C++ software.
- Contribute to the design and development of computational chemistry tools, simulations, and numerical algorithms.
- Collaborate with researchers, mathematicians, and software developers to validate and improve scientific models.
- Analyze simulation results and communicate findings, assumptions, and limitations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Stay informed about advances in quantum chemistry, computational methods, and scientific computing.
What we’re looking for:
- A Ph.D. in Chemistry, Theoretical Chemistry, Quantum Chemistry, Chemical Physics, Computational Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of quantum chemistry, molecular simulations, or related computational methods.
- Strong programming skills in C++ and the ability to develop scientifically correct and reliable software implementations.
- Experience translating mathematical models and scientific methods into computational algorithms.
- Excellent algorithmic and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Strong sense of ownership and the ability to independently drive projects forward.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex systems clearly.
Bonus points:
- Experience with high-performance computing, parallel programming, or performance optimization.
- Familiarity with software engineering practices, including version control, testing, code reviews, and collaborative development workflows.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and reproducible deployments.
